About 12 years ago at the dawn of realistically affordable video cameras and an acceleration in "home movies" La Brigade De Images made their first call for entries in a search for artists' videos and short films. The collection is now comprised of over 100 short films, performances and still shots, which La Brigade De Images have shown around Europe in a variety of formats from installation to cinema screenings.
Love Video is a selection of 15 of those films, reacting to an extent to an in-personal mass media but more a celebration of intimate film. Throughout the collection simple relationships are explored through a wide variety of techniques and themes including the tending to a medical resuscitation training mannikin, Mariah Carey and an amateur photography club meeting. Love Video is made up of artists from Canada, U.S.A, Europe and Hong Kong with films ranging in length from 1 to 10 minutes presenting a somewhat collage nature to the screening and hopefully heightening the diversity of the relationship between film and people.
La Brigade De image is based in an old meat salting factory on the outskirts of Paris under the leadership of Laurent Quénéhen who will also be present at the screening.
