Please join us in a day of solidarity rally with Long term Anarchist/Green Scare Prisoners Marie Mason and Eric McDavid. These two individuals have the distinction of receiving the two longest standing prison sentences in the history of the Environmental and Animal Rights movements. Eric McDavid's case is of particular interest because no act was actually carried out. He was arrested before any action took place.
Our Solidarity Rally will take place Saturday June 11th at 6pm and be comprised of the following:
A screening of "Pickaxe", a documentary about the movement to stop logging of the old growth forest at Warner Creek in the Willamette National Forest of Oregon and the development of the Cascadia Free State. This films shows the importance and success of grassroots direct action to combat the governmental and big business implementation of ecocide.
Guest Speaker:
Josh Harper (Longtime Activist, Shac 7, conflictgypsy.com)
Greg Bennick (Trial, One Hundred For Haiti)
Speaking About The Green Scare

About Marie Mason, from her support website:
Marie Mason is a loving mother of two and a long-time activist in the environmental and labor movements. In March 2008, she was arrested by federal authorities for charges related to two acts of property destruction that occurred in 1999 and 2000 – damaging an office connected to GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) research, and destroying a piece of logging equipment. No one was injured in either act. She faced a Life sentence before accepting a plea bargain in September 2008.Mason was sentenced on February 5, 2009 in federal court in Lansing, Michigan. She received almost 22 years – the longest sentence of any “Green Scare” prisoner. The sentence is currently being appealed.
About Eric McDavid, from his support website:
Eric McDavid is a political prisoner, currently serving a 20 year sentence in federal prison for “thought crime.” He was arrested in January 2006 (as part of the government's ongoing "Green Scare" campaign against environmental and animal rights activists) after being targeted by an undercover informant who formulated a crime and entrapped Eric in it. Eric was targeted by the state for his political beliefs, and his case is important for everyone who dares to stand up.
About the importance of The June 11th International Day Of Solidarity, from June11th.org:
June 11th began as an international day of solidarity with long-term anarchist prisoner Jeff "Free" Luers in 2004. At the time, Jeff was serving 22+ years. Infuriated by the environmental devastation he saw occurring on a global scale, free torched three SUVs at a car dealership in Eugene, OR. The sentence imposed on him was meant to send a clear message to others who were angered by capitalism's continued war on the Earth's ecosystems – and to those who were willing to take action to put a stop to it. Free is, after all, not alone in his concerns about climate change, fossil fuels, pollution and genetically modified organisms.
Marie Mason and Eric McDavid share the unfortunate distinction of having the longest standing sentences of any environmental prisoners in the United States. Please join us in an International Day of Solidarity with Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners Marie Mason and Eric McDavid on June 11th. This is a time to remember our friends who are in prison – who are continuing their struggles on the inside.
This is a time to continue and strengthen the very work for which Eric and Marie are now serving so much time - to struggle against capitalism, ecological devastation, and the ever more diffuse forms of control in this prison society.
Free Marie and Eric!
Free all prisoners!
